About the retreat

Join us in the absolutely stunning region of Tavira, in southern Portugal for a restorative five day physio-led Pilates and yoga retreat. 

Our retreats are led by two highly experienced physiotherapists, are suitable for all abilities and are small groups only. As such, we cater for individual needs and abilities.

What's included:

  • 1:1 Physio time 

  • Daily Pilates and yoga classes 

  • Daily morning mobility and evening relaxation/meditation classes. 

  • All class equipment

  • Fully catered with healthy seasonal vegetarian food by our private chef; Katrina Whitaker, Missingredient. (Please note: The chef will have one evening off, where we will eat out). 

  • Walks in nature, including transfer to the beach.

  • 5 nights Luxury accommodation 

  • Use of venue facilities including swimming pool, wild swimming pond, garden & orchard.

  • Flights to and from Portugal (Faro airport just 30 minute drive away)

The Accommodation - Altanure.

Altanure, "Être la nature" [Be nature], is to find yourself between land and sea. A space where you can be in touch with your inner nature in an edible landscape designed in harmony with the unique biotope surrounding the accommodation. Where they cultivate their own vegetables, fruit and herbs according to permaculture principles and practices.

We have two sets of accommodation available.

Casa Terra, a group of houses built in taipa (traditional mud construction) and Quinta Sol d’Agua, an old building with typical regional architecture, are located on the same 6 hectare agro ecological estate, 6 km from Tavira and in a straight line to the sea , in lush, unspoilt countryside.

The same natural, luminous wellness atmosphere fills the environment inside and out.

Palm leaf shutters, tables carved from local stone, and traditional floor tiles from the region a natural, refined decor can be found in all our accommodation.

You will have exclusive use of both swimming pools & natural swimming pond, a fully equipped Yoga Shala and the surrounding gardens.

The Region

Altanure’s environment is marked by the natural beauty of the rural landscape of the Tavira region and its proximity to the Ria Formosa Natural Reserve. This unique ecosystem is intrinsically linked to the area and its biotope, its lagoons forming a barrier with sandbanks
and long beaches.

Behind the coast, the Barrocal is the Algarve scrubland that links the coast to the mountains, dotted with orange, almond, olive and carob trees. Further inland, the regional landscape gives way to the red earth of the rounded hills, its peaceful villages and artisanal factories.
